ABOUT
A nomadic soul who spent stints living in California, Montana, New York, and North Carolina before returning home to Maine, Stancioff grew up learning traditional Balkan music from her paternal grandfather’s side of the family and reveled in singing American folk and roots tunes with her friends. Backed by her folk rock band, her intelligent and soulful writing pairs with a confident and catchy indie sound drawing on folk, rock, pop, and her own Bulgarian heritage.
Born and raised in rural western Maine, Louisa has emerged as a gifted writer with a cinematic eye for richly detailed, emotionally-charged character studies that grapple with the complexities of loneliness and desire, guilt and forgiveness. Her songs highlight everyday life happenings and the whimsical ways in which serendipity ties us all together.
Louisa’s debut album When We Were Looking is out now. Check out the Official Press Release.
Louisa has toured extensively, playing shows with Blitzen Trapper, The Dead Tongues, Indigo De Souza, Darlingside, Micaela Davis, Pokey Lafarge and many more.
Louisa and her bandmates all currently live in Midcoast Maine.
